Order of Business:
We discussed the need for historical markers on properties of interest throughout our town. The markers would be beneficial not only to those who visit our town but would be a source of education to those who live in town and may not know the history of a particular property. We also discussed how to go about obtaining and maintaining these markers with the help of sponsors. It is our goal to provide historical tours of our town.
Maryan encouraged us to attend Union Township meetings as well as town council meetings and to get involved, and encourage others to get involved, in the Planning Commission meetings that involve the future of our town.
Jim gave his treasurer's report and updated us on the proceeds from our recent Fall Festival.
We discussed ideas for future fund-raising events such as movie nights in the park and horse-drawn carriage rides to historical sites in town.
Willard proposed the idea of renting a bus and going on periodic tours of places of interest in Warren County and the surrounding area. One suggestion was visiting the Hayner House which was moved from South Lebanon to Heritage Village.
Maryan is still working on getting the people from the ghost hunter show to feature her house. Her house, as well as other places in town, seems to have restless spirits lurking about. Another of our goals is to have a ghost/cemetery tour.
