Order of Business:

We discussed the two Girl Scout troops who recently visited our SLHS Office in order to earn their badges in government and first aid.  The SLHS team tailored their presentations to incorporate our local history into government and first aid, and the troops successfully received their badges.  They gave us a $50.00 donation which is greatly appreciated.  We hope to reach out to future groups.

The field trip to Ginger's restaurant was successful.  With only ten participants for this first outing of the Friends of South Lebanon Tour, we made a profit of roughly $75.00.  The next tour is tentatively planned for the first week of June with a visit to Staley Mill Farm and a stop for lunch at Young's Dairy in Yellow Springs.

We discussed work on our South Lebanon Cookbook.  It was suggested that we include some of South Lebanon's history in the book.  We haven't yet decided on what picture to use for the cover, but we unanimously decided to dedicate the book to Mabel Norman.  Mabel was a much loved cook at South Lebanon Elementary School for many, many years.  Nellie is going to contact recipe contributors from some of the old cookbooks we have in our archives for permission to use certain recipes.  We made up a flyer to hang in area businesses requesting recipes for the book.  Sara suggested that we also contact our local churches and have them announce our need for recipes.

SLHS plans to participate in this year's Memorial Day parade.  Willard will check on getting a hay wagon that we can use.  It was suggested that we throw out candy with our society's information attached.

The historical marker for Maryan's house is on track.  The deadline to apply for grants is July.  Our art history program will probably not start until sometime next year.
