Maryan updated us on her attendance of the ceremony in Maineville for the unveiling of the Butterworth Station historical marker. The Butterworth Station was the southernmost station on the Underground Railroad. We hope to have a similar ceremony, in the not too distant future, for the unveiling of South Lebanon's own historical marker that will be placed at the Union Township Hall - a building rich in local history.
The Village Community Church is having a summer camp and wants to bring the kids to visit our SLHS office to view our artifacts and learn a little of South Lebanon's history. Maryan will confirm the dates and then coordinate the speakers.
Jim gave the financial report which included a recent Kroger's Rewards check we received in the amount of $169.06.
Maryan urged us to take raffle tickets to sell for the Kings Island passes. The money will benefit our historic marker project. She also asked that we review the text we completed for our first marker, make changes if needed, and write new text that we are allowed to include on the back of the marker. The marker text will be submitted in July.
We discussed plans to have our annual Fall Festival. The festival will include our usual musical entertainment, pageant, food, and raffles with the possible addition of a talent show. We briefly discussed having a car show, maybe in July or August. Willard is going to check with some car clubs to see what their schedules are, and he will also check into getting a location for the show.
